As soon as our caravan crossed into Texas after a brief visit to New Mexico, a vast agricultural landscape presented itself. It was a welcome change, as we’d grown so accustomed to driving through the mountainous terrain of Utah and Colorado. Weathered grain silos and farming infrastructure stretched as far as the eye could see, and there was an impressive array of cloud formations that resembled oceanic patterns high in the sky.
For this series, I found that the passenger’s seat was the perfect place to photograph, given its wide perspective and windows, which served as a frame and reference point. I’d often spy an object of interest in the distance and start shooting away. By the time it had passed us by, I’d have a range of images to choose from. I’d rest the camera in my lap and wait, observing the road unfurl itself towards our destination of Austin.
Enjoy y’all!
